April Scholarships

AMVETS Scholarship
AMVETS awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.

Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship
The men of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity of Oklahoma State University awards two $1,000 scholarships to senior males planning to attend OSU. The Balanced Man Scholarship honors incoming freshman males who exemplify academic excellence, selfless leadership, service to his community and a healthy lifestyle. This scholarship application does not reflect a membership obligation to Sigma Phi Epsilon in any way.

Holocaust Remembrance Project National Essay Contest:  Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation, Inc
Deadline: April 19, 2012

ELIGIBILITY: This contest is open to all students age 19 and under who meet the following criteria: 1) are currently enrolled as a high school student in grades 9-12 (including home schooled students), or who are high school seniors who may graduate high school any time in 2012, or who are enrolled in a high school equivalency program; and (2) are residents of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or are U.S. citizens living abroad.

Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship

This $5000 scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as high school students or first-year college students. To be eligible for this award you must be under 25 years of age and answer both of the essay questions.

Executive Women International Scholarship Program
Deadline: April 30, 2012
Scholarship for high school seniors who plan to pursue a college degree, can demonstrate financial need, have a 3.0 GPA or higher and have contributed to their community as demonstrated by their involvement in extra-curricular activities, work, religious or volunteer activities.

May Scholarships

Marie Welch Scholarship:  Independent Insurance Agent Scholarships
Deadline: May 1, 2012
• Candidate must be a child of an IIAO agency or associate member, or a full- or part-time employee of an IIAO agency or associate member.
• Candidate must be a resident of Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a community college, college or university in any state or applicant must be presently working in the insurance industry in the state of Oklahoma. High school seniors as well as students presently enrolled in college are eligible.
• An official transcript of most recently recorded grades and a letter of recommendation from a non-family member should accompany application.

*2.5 minimum GPA

Hester Sickles Memorial Scholarship

The Dream Institute

THE AFT Oklahoma
Deadline: May 25, 2012
The AFT-Oklahoma funds this scholarship as a means of assisting deserving and able graduation students who want to continue schooling at the college, community college, business school or vocational level. This $500 scholarship will be awarded based on scholastic record, character and financial need. Student must have a parent that is a member of the AFT/OFT. Must be a high school senior attending a public high school in Oklahoma.

The Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship

A college scholarship is available to Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club associates who are based in the U.S.
Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and community involvement.
The Foundation has modified its Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship program (formerly Wal-Mart Higher Reach Scholarship), so associates pursuing associate and bachelor degrees through accredited 2-year and 4-year institutions and associates participating in the Lifelong Learning Program through American Public University are eligible to receive support.

The Big Sun
