Dear Faith: I was wondering why colleges are so expensive?

Faith says: That's an excellent question, and one many students find themselves asking as they fill out financial aid forms.

The cost of college varies widely by school, and depends heavily on factors such as location, programs and reputation. However, it's important to remember that the most expensive schools aren't necessarily the best ones for you. Many less expensive community colleges offer excellent programs.

If you think of college as an investment in your future, it's actually a pretty good deal, especially since there is plenty of financial aid available to help you pay for it.

You can learn about financial aid options, including how to access scholarships, in the Financial Aid Planning section. You will find a range of information about college costs, scholarships, other types of financial-aid assistance, and more.

I hope this helps. Thanks for writing.

Good luck!
