Real-Life Math -- Solution

First, convert everything to meters.

Distance = 0.8 miles x 1.6 kilometers per mile x 1,000 meters per kilometer
Distance = 1.28 x 1,000
Distance = 1,280 meters

Altitude = 0.9 miles x 1.6 kilometers per mile x 1,000 meters per kilometer
Altitude = 1.44 x 1,000
Altitude = 1,440 meters

Now figure out the new distance.

Distance = (Distance from target in meters x 1.5) + altitude in meters
Distance = (1,280 meters x 1.5) + 1,440 meters
Distance = 1,920 + 1,440
Distance = 3,360 meters

The trajectory distance is 3,360 meters (or 3.36 kilometers).
