You work at a company that manufactures vacuum pack pouches for perishable foods. You've just completed an order for 2,000 bags for a meat processing company.

The company is planning to package about $100 worth of meat into each package. The packages cost you about $0.50 each to make.

When the finished packages come through your lab for testing, you find that they are off spec. Off spec means that the pouches haven't been manufactured at the same standard as was specified. The packages are fairly similar, but not exactly what was asked for. Can you use the packages anyway?

You're about 90 percent sure that the minor difference in packaging won't harm the food product. You think it will provide a sufficient barrier against oxygen and prevent bacteria and molds from growing on the food.

Should you greatly reduce your profits to remake the pouches? Or should you ship the pouches to the meat processing company for use?
