Real-Life Decision Making

You are a pharmacy technician at a hospital where you have worked for four years.

You feel like you really have a handle on your job. Your supervisor must have noticed, because she has just offered you a promotion to a pharmaceuticals buyer position.

This job would be quite an advance for you. It would mean purchasing the drugs needed for the entire hospital's pharmacy. It's a big honor, but also a big responsibility -- one you're not sure you're ready for. If the buyer makes a mistake in ordering, any number of lives could be at stake. The hospital must have sufficient drugs at all times.

But you also know you're a good pharmacy technician who knows the hospital well. If you don't take the job, someone from outside the hospital, someone who is unfamiliar with it, will get the job.

What do you do?
