Real-Life Communication

"Communication skills are a must. This is how you sell services to customers," says mover Leo Miller.

"Communications will range from basic day-to-day overseeing of operations to instilling the corporate vision to all employees. People and communication skills are among the most important skills, regardless of the position that you seek within the household goods moving and storage industry," says MaryScott Tuck. She is the training coordinator for the American Moving and Storage Association.

If you were explaining your services to a potential customer who was deciding whether to complete the move herself instead of hiring a mover, how would you make it seem more appealing to hire you? The services you can provide are typical mover services such as a work crew to do the heavy lifting and packing, trucks and packing supplies, speed and efficiency in packing and delivery and insurance coverage.
