Real-Life Decision Making

You have a new job as a research interviewer. You have been given phone numbers of a random sample of people to call, but you have been unlucky. You have phoned several people on the list and no one has agreed to an interview.

You wonder if your supervisor thinks that you lack the necessary communication skills to persuade people to cooperate.

You phone the next number and cross your fingers, hoping that this person will agree.

The man who answers the phone does not speak English very well and you do not speak his first language. You have a difficult time understanding him. In fact, you wonder if he can understand the questions that you will be asking.

On the other hand, this man is very friendly and is willing to give you the interview and talk to you for as long as you want.

What do you do?
