Real-Life Communication -- Solution

You are a nanotechnology researcher giving a keynote address to people in the agricultural industry. How do you answer their questions?

  1. What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is the study of the structure of matter. Researchers focus on gaining control over matter. They want to build complicated objects with very good accuracy.

  2. Can we use nanotechnology now? Why or why not?

Nanotechnology doesn't exist yet because we don't have molecular assemblers yet. This means we are unable to piece together molecules.

  3. What is nanoelectrical engineering?

The word "nano" means very small. Nanoelectrical engineering is the study of very small electronic systems.

Ralph Merkle is a nanotechnologist. He says the bigger the field gets, the more it will need people who can talk about it publicly. "There are going to be requirements for people who can communicate clearly and persuade and be articulate," says Merkle.
