You're a butcher working in a New York delicatessen. A woman, recently arrived from the Ukraine, comes into the market and wants to buy some of the ground beef you have on sale. The price is regularly $4.89 per pound, but it's 20 percent off today. She also needs some cuts of beef for her authentic Ukraine goulash recipe, and some chicken. The beef is $6.10 a pound and the poultry is $4.70 a pound.

There's only one hitch: this customer is used to the metric system, so this price means nothing to her.

She needs two kilograms of ground beef, one kilogram of the cuts and half a kilogram of chicken.

If a kilogram equals about 2.2 pounds, how many pounds of each meat will she need and what will she pay to get her Ukrainian goulash off the ground?
