Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You ask the customer to wait while you cut some chops.

You tell your customer to wait while you go and cut some chops. You go into the freezer and come out 15 minutes later to find the customer gone. She decided not to wait.

She was obviously angry and now you've lost a customer. You should have given her the fillets.

This is one possible real-life decision that may have to be made by a meat cutter, but decision making goes beyond just having to deal with difficult customers.

Ron Smith, professor of meat studies, says there are other types of situations which may require good decision-making skills. "You need to know what goes and what doesn't as far as marketing and display."
