Assessing the costs of a conference or event involves a fair bit of math, though it's not exactly calculus.

You have been approached by the Skookum chapter of the Illuminati with a request to organize a national assembly of Grand Percolators (chapter presidents).

Skookumites are proud of their heritage and history with the Illuminati, an esteemed group known for its benevolence. The local chapter has just won the opportunity to host this assembly, and they are tickled pink with the idea of showing off their fabulous town.

In addition to accommodations, food and entertainment, you will also have to arrange a special outing. The directors want to take the delegates on a tour of the finest garden gnomes in town. Skookum is famous for its garden gnomes.

With the information below, figure out how much it will cost to put on the event. Don't forget to include your cut -- you charge a certain percentage of the costs for yourself.

There will be 28 Percolators in attendance.

Accommodation at the luxurious White Grit Hotel: 3 nights at $40 a night

Catering by Callous Cal's Country Cookin': $835 in total

Skookum Bus Charters, with guide: $79 an hour (a 3-hour tour)

Entertainment:

  • Benny "Elvis" Diamond: $3,249.95 (he's good)
  • Sound System Rental: $250
  • Limousine Service: $70

Your cut: 25 percent of the act fee, 10 percent on the limousine service, 12 percent on the sound system, and 5 percent on both the accommodations and catering.
