Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You buy the potatoes.

This is a big investment for the company. Over the weekend, you worry and wonder what the price is going to do next week. This is the real-life decision purchaser Jason Lee made. He calls it his potato dilemma.

Lee decided to buy the potatoes. If the price dropped lower, he would have gone back to the supplier and negotiated some sort of deal on a falling market. "You have to be creative sometimes to justify your position," he says.

"Fortunately, the market was at a low and went up."

It was the end of season and supplies were starting to run low. Over the next month, his company had a competitive edge in the market. Even allowing for the cost of storage, his company's salespeople could offer potatoes for less than the market price.
