Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You begin resuscitation and call a doctor immediately.

This is the real-life decision that neonatal nurse Claudia Ravin would make.

"You have to be able to assess the situation quickly, and say to yourself that this isn't a normal situation," she says. "You would begin resuscitation immediately and at the same time call the doctor."

A premature baby that has stopped breathing is in a life-or-death situation. The doctor needs to be called in to figure out the cause. The doctor must decide what to do once the baby's breathing has recovered.
