Real-Life Math -- Solution

1. What are your total monthly expenses?

Expenses = 1,200 + 400 + 250 + 400 + 300
Expenses = $2,550

Your monthly expenses total $2,550.

2. Based on previous experience, you expect to teach 5 Level I classes, 4 Level II classes, and 3 Master classes each month. How much will these classes earn you? How many hourly Reiki sessions will you need to conduct to cover the balance?

Total = (5 x 125) + (4 x 130) + (3 x 385)
Total = 625 + 520 + 1,155
Total = $2,300

These classes will earn you $2,300.

$2,550 - $2,300 = $250
$250 / $40 per hourly session = 6.25

You will need to conduct just 7 hourly sessions a month to cover the balance.

Rebalance practitioners don't need strong math skills for their career. However, some math skills can come in handy, says Reiki master and instructor Susan Faber.

She says she uses math skills for scheduling and billing. "If you want to keep your finances in order, they're pretty important," she says.

Math is used when billing clients and when working out budgets. These tasks take up just a small part of a rebalance practitioner's time. Faber is glad this is the case.

"When I see numbers, I usually cloud over," she says, laughing.
