Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to confirm your findings with other scientists.

This is the real-life decision of astronomer Matthew Ashby.

"I have done lots of work looking for black holes," he says. "But the decision process is always difficult."

You have to sift through the evidence carefully over a long period of time and evaluate the evidence with at least a few other astronomers.

"We regularly attend conferences for just that purpose," he says. "You can never be too careful."
