Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take Miranda because she is a dedicated player and you know she would love the chance to play.

She is thrilled with the decision. However, some of the team members are second-guessing you. They are wondering if you are growing soft and picked Miranda because of her determination rather than because of her talent.

At the beginning of the tournament, your players do very well. Unfortunately, during one of the final matches, Miranda just isn't as good as her opponent and loses the game. Her teammates are furious with her loss.

When you get back to the club, your boss is disappointed that Miranda failed in such an easy game, and lost the tournament.

"Attitude does count and it's great to see in players," says Nita. "But when you are assessing a player for a tournament you have to choose based on each player's talents."
