A lovely old heritage home is being renovated, and you won the contract to plaster the inside walls. You are very pleased to get the contract and you want to do excellent work that you can be proud of. You also know that if the owners are pleased with you, they might ask you to do some additional work for them.

Right now, you are plastering 2 walls that join in a corner. One of the more challenging tasks that plasterers face is ensuring that walls are straight. When you were learning your trade, you had to struggle to learn how to get straight walls. However, now you are skilled and you know how to go about it.

These corner walls are both 12 feet high and 20 feet long. Like most corner walls, they join at a 90-degree angle.

Using math, how can you plan for straight walls? (Hint: use the Pythagorean theorem)
