Real-Life Communication -- Solution

Here are some ideas to green up Mrs. Downey's backyard pool.

You suggest that Mrs. Downey plant solandria because it's an evergreen vine that grows well on walls, arbors and eaves. A juniperus, a slow-growing evergreen ground cover, can be used for borders, rock gardens and for controlling erosion.

You suggest a strelitzia tree because it is litter-free and withstands splashing, and a cotoneaster because this slow-growing ground cover flows nicely over the ground.

Finally you suggest Mrs. Downey plant a magnolia tree because it has a strong vertical effect and attractive flowers.

Now her pool is going to look great with the garden around it.

"Any time you're dealing with the public, you have to have proper communication skills," says Ken Tomihiro, a director with the Pool and Hot Tub Council of Canada.
