Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell him to hold off until the contract is signed.

You've been burned before and you don't want to take another chance like that. You also don't want your client to get angry with you if he doesn't get paid. If he leaves your agency, a lot of business could go with him.

Your client tells the producers that he needs a contract before he can work. The producers react badly. It costs them thousands of dollars an hour to operate the set, even when there's no filming going on.

The producer calls you and threatens to never do business with you again for being so picky about this contract.

Nonetheless, that day a contract is delivered by courier to your office. The show gets under way with your client duly protected by the contract. The downside is that the production company may never work with you again because you didn't act in good faith, and you cost them so much money.
