Good morning. My name is Amy. I am a pediatric nurse here at the hospital. I understand you're going to be spending some time with us. Well, why don't I show you around a bit? We want you to feel comfortable during your visit. It might be a little scary, but I promise we don't bite!
Your room is right down that hallway. Before I show it to you, why don't we take a look around? We're on the eighth floor right now. There are 21 floors in all, and those 10 elevators over there go up and down to all of them. When the time comes, you'll go up to the 12th floor for your surgery.
Right here is the nurses' station. This is where a nurse will always be on duty. If you want to find us, just come over here and we'll answer any questions you have, OK?
Right over here is the playroom. You'll probably spend quite a bit of time in here -- most of our visitors do. We have toys and dolls and games for you. All we ask is that you share with the other children and put away anything you use.
All that playing might make you hungry, so right down here is the snack room. We keep it stocked with juice and snacks. We prefer if you have an adult helping you find what you want, OK?
That brings us to your room. As you can see, it's a private room, so you'll have it all to yourself. Your bathroom is right over here. The TV is operated by the remote control and this controller operates the bed. This button here calls the nurses' station, so any time you need anything, just let us know.
I really hope you feel comfortable here. We're all looking forward to getting to know you!
