Real-Life Decision Making

You're an automotive engineer for a parts manufacturer. You're designing a new fuel line. Your company has landed a big contract with an auto manufacturer to start shipping the fuel line in just a few weeks.

Your testing shows the rubber tubing is going to crack after three and a half years of exposure to air. The minimum it should last is four years, according to safety requirements.

However, it would cost more to fix the problem than the contract is going to earn in profit for your company. Most customers probably won't even have a problem with the fuel line.

What do you do?
