Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You hold your place in the top three pack and await a better chance to pass.

Playing it safe may be a good option in this instance, but the race is starting to head into the home stretch.

Riders use the rule of thirds: during the first third of the race, you establish position and feel out your competitors; during the second third, you try to maintain your spot while putting pressure on the riders around you. And any time you see an opportunity during the last third of a race to take the lead, you should try to do it.
