Real-Life Math -- Solution

You want to convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

15 C = 15 x 1.8 + 32
15 C = 27 + 32
15 C = 59 F

32 C = 32 x 1.8 + 32
32 C = 57.6 + 32
32 C = 89.6 F

-3 C = -3 x 1.8 + 32
-3 C = -5.4 + 32
-3 C = 26.6 F

0 C = 0 x 1.8 + 32
0 C = 32 F

There are many areas of specialty in the field of visual effects. Math skills can be very important in some of these areas.

Russell Heyman says that visual effects technicians who use math could include those who specialize in writing code, scripting or programming. Heyman heads a digital animation program at a technical institute.

"It really does depend on the position that the visual effects artist is going to be in," he says. "When it comes to the scripting and the programming in the area of visual effects, then being able to crunch numbers can definitely help," he says.
