Anesthesiologists base the amount of anesthesia they administer on the patient's weight.

"We are responsible for maintaining their [the patient's] life while the surgeon operates, and we make all the decisions regarding which drugs to give, which fluids to administer," says Dr. Ian Zunder, an anesthesiologist.

You're attending to a pregnant patient who is having a caesarean section. You're using a drug called propofol, which requires that you administer 2.4 units per pound of body weight.

If the patient weighs 128 pounds, calculate how much propofol you should administer.
