Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You put up Cope's name, hoping that Pretty is still left undrafted when you get your next pick.

Unfortunately, Pretty is scooped up by another team. You must content yourself with having chosen Cope. The media praises you for your decision.

However, by the end of the following season, Cope is in the minors. In 41 games in the big leagues, he had one goal. Although Pretty didn't exactly take the hockey world by storm, he had 61 points in 70 games and blossomed into one of the league's best defensive players. As you originally thought, he was a keeper.

"Going with what you feel deep down sometimes is best," says sports scout Bryan Shumock. "Never mind what all the hype is about. It's a scout's job to rise above all that and make the smart decision, the decision that will further the prosperity of one's sports club for years to come. If it means going after a hard worker over a glamorous player, then so be it."
