Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to wait the three weeks.

You buy a mule from one of the village people, load your supplies onto it and walk back to camp.

Three weeks later, you pick up your truck from the mechanic in the village. He has fixed the problem and even had the necessary parts on hand.

This is the real-life decision made by archeologist Carole Gillis. She says she's glad she decided to hoof it for a few weeks.

"In this kind of situation, it's better to err on the side of caution. When you're in charge of a dig, you're responsible for all the people in your crew. If I had taken the car apart and ruined some of the parts in the process, we would have had to wait for months for the parts to come from the United States. Then no one would have gotten home, and we would have had no transportation in an emergency situation."
