Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to fix it yourself.

You pull out your how-to manual and your tool kit and start tinkering with the engine. After working on it for a few days, the truck finally starts up again, but starts to shake and rattle when being driven.

On the way back to the camp, the engine seizes completely. You'll have to wait the two weeks for the mechanic to come to the village anyway. He looks at the vehicle and tells you your tinkering has cost the truck its transmission, and you'll have to wait at least a month for the part to be sent from the United States.

You regret wasting time on the truck when you could have been on the dig.
