Real-Life Math

Independent movie producers are often working on very tight budgets. Being able to count your pennies can make the difference between success and failure, both in the short-term and the long-term. It's all about survival.

Imagine that the budget for your upcoming film Patriots Among Us is $132,000.

Twenty-five per cent of the budget will be for the producers' compensation. However, two-thirds of this amount will go to the full producer (you), while one-third will go to the executive producer.

How much will each producer receive? Let's say that the budget for the film has been increased to $150,000. Now how much will each producer receive?

If your post-production expenses total $22,000, what percentage of your budget will be for post-production?
