Real-Life Communication

You are a university professor who teaches agricultural science. You will present a lecture to your students on the pasteurization process UHT, which stands for ultra high temperature. The UHT process boils milks five times hotter than the normal pasteurization process.

Agricultural educator John Vanderstoep says it is imperative "to be able to communicate effectively the subject matter that the students would need to work with."

The boiling of the milk is supposed to be timed just right so tbat the bacteria in the milk is destroyed but the nutrients and taste are left intact. Some researchers have found that even though this process does create a longer shelf life in milk, it sacrifices the taste and in some cases, even the nutrients in the milk. However, not all researchers agree on this matter.

In your lecture, you will have to be very professional. You must disclose the results of the studies, but you must do so in a balanced and fair manner. The important thing in this exercise is to imagine yourself as a teacher. Bring your own personality into it.
