Real-Life Math -- Solution

This is how you would solve this problem:

Step 1: Tally the results of all the different blood types of the cows.

There are 5 cows with type A.
There are 7 cows with type B.
There are 9 cows with type O.
There are 4 cows with type AB.

Step 2: Now find the percentage of each of the blood types out of the whole set of cows. To do this, take the number of cows with a particular blood type, divide it by the total number of cows, then multiply by 100.

Type A blood:
5 / 25 x 100 = 20 percent

Type B blood:
7 / 25 x 100 = 28 percent

Type O blood:
9 / 25 x 100 = 36 percent

Type AB blood:
4/25 x 100 =16 percent

Blood TypeTallyPercentage
A520%
B728%
O936%
AB416%

The answer is that 20 percent of the farmer's cows are likely to produce sour milk.
