Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You study to become a psychologist.

You enjoy your courses, but you miss your music. You don't have time with all of the studying to enjoy music the way you used to. Practicing music is the least of your priorities. You figure you will get back into your music when your schooling is done.

As time goes on, you decide that you want to do some work in the local hospital. You find you are once again drawn to what the musical therapist is doing. You are surprised to find out that he plays his instrument well, but not as well as you expected.

You are also surprised to see that it isn't necessary to have a great musical ability to succeed as a musical therapist.

Therapist Julie Tatro says one of the misconceptions about music therapy is that the client or patient has to have musical ability to benefit from it.
