Real-Life Math -- Solution

You know the formula for the circumference. That will give you the total distance around the wheel. If the spokes are placed every 1.5 inches, you simply divide the circumference by 1.5.

Number of spokes = pi x diameter / spoke distance

Number of spokes = 3.14 x 20.2 inch diameter / 1.5 inches apart
Number of spokes = 63.4 / 1.5
Number of spokes = 42.3

There will be 42 spokes on the wheel.
