Real-Life Decision Making
Dancing has been part of your world since you were five, and your greatest
pleasure is in creating dances and seeing them performed on stage. But since
you have not had the break you've been hoping for, you've taken a secure position
at a bank these past few years.
You make a decent living, but making dances is still a necessary part of
your life. For this reason, you choreograph part time.
Due to connections you've made over the years, an opportunity becomes available
for you to choreograph full time. You won't be making near the amount that
you make at the bank, but you'll be doing something you truly love.
"One of the decisions is always going to be about money," says choreographer
Wayne Burritt.
This choreographing opportunity will require that you move 500 miles away
and that your spouse leave their job to follow you.
If you take the position, you'll still have to find a part-time job to
supplement your income. "You have to scramble any way you can to make money,"
says Burritt. "Some people wait tables, teach, do whatever they can to make
ends meet."
He suggests doing something related to the field. "I like to choreograph
all the time, but I stay with what's related -- teaching ballet."
What do you do?
