Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell this client that a perm would be a bad move, regardless of what your co-worker told her.

You're not happy doing it, but you tell this client a perm would be a bad idea.

She argues that her regular stylist told her it would work. You reply that perhaps he didn't know how damaged her hair was.

You suggest a cut instead and she agrees. By giving her a good cut, you manage to make her hair look fuller and healthier.

She's pleased with the cut, but says she'll ask her stylist about a perm when she comes in next time. She walks out happy and now the situation is out of your hands.

This is the real-life decision made by stylist David Kohl.

"If you have fine, straight, color-treated hair and your stylist tells you he can make your hair look thick and curly, you know he has to be lying," says Kohl. "I'm always very honest with my clients."
