Real-Life Communication -- Solution

You are an ophthalmic assistant. You are assisting a patient with her new contact lenses. She has a few questions. This is how you answer her:

1. How do you remove the contact?

Wash and dry your hands. Hold your eyelids open. Using your thumb and index finger on your other hand, gently pull down or squeeze the contact.

2. Can I put the contacts in the case for 10 minutes and then take them out to wear again?

Once contacts have been put in a cleansing and storage solution, they should remain to soak for about four hours.

3. If I get these contacts, can I just keep ordering them and never come back to see the ophthalmologist?

Contact wearers should regularly visit their doctor for eye exams to ensure the overall health of their eyes.
