The shift to green construction has speeded up these last few years. The most obvious benefit of sustainable building is for the environment. But the approach is also gaining popularity because of its economic benefits.

A green building has lower operating costs. Green buildings have built-in functions to lower lighting, cooling and heating bills. And green buildings are also healthier for the people inside them. The air is cleaner and there is more natural light. The buildings are designed with the comfort and health of the occupants in mind. Also, to encourage more builders to go green, governments are giving economic incentives. These bonuses include tax rebates and credits. In some cases green projects may get permits and approval faster.

You are an architect and you specialize in green design. You need to describe your plans for designing a climate-responsive home. Here are the details of the home:

  • can adapt to weather conditions
  • uses solar design
  • powered by photovoltaic cells
  • photovoltaic cells produce energy directly from sunlight
  • energy can be stored
  • stored energy is used at night and on rainy days
  • uses sustainable materials
  • uses waste products (e.g. wooden shipping palettes, copper roofing, automobile tires)
  • uses efficient mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems

Turn these notes into narrative text that describes your green design.
