Real-Life Decision Making

You are an occupational therapist assistant working with Kent, a man who has suffered a brain injury. He has been adjusting well to the routine back in his home, and so the occupational therapist you work with has left you to look after him. In fact, the occupational therapist is out of town.

During the day, Kent suddenly begins flinging his arms, kicking and screaming. "He suddenly became extremely angry," says Patricia Wilkinson, an occupational therapist administrative assistant. No matter how you try, Kent can't be calmed.

He is becoming increasingly violent, throws things, and yells at his family.

You have to make a quick decision. The occupational therapist you work with is out of town, and can't be reached.

What do you do?
