Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You try to contain the situation yourself.

After all, you can't call a doctor or an ambulance every time something goes wrong with a patient. You want to prove to your occupational therapist that you can handle situations on your own.

Kent continues to throws things about his room. An angry look flashes across his face, and he takes a swing at his brother. It's obvious that you can't bring this situation under control or help Kent by yourself.

"In an institution there will be help for you, but in home care you have to use a little more imagination," says Patricia Wilkinson. Wilkinson is an occupational therapist administrative assistant. "You need to know when to try to reach someone, and decide quickly who would be the best person to help."
