Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to allow Jeremy to dive with the group.

Jeremy has his open-water certificate, so he is qualified to dive. However, despite his assurances that his doctor has medically cleared him to dive, he cannot produce a certificate.

Your group goes ahead with its dive. Twenty minutes in, Jeremy starts to have an asthma attack. He struggles to breathe and begins to thrash around uncontrollably. You abandon your post as leader of the group and you help Jeremy swim to the surface.

Once on land, Jeremy gets some medical attention and resumes his normal breathing. He's fine, but you put your other, less experienced divers at risk while you helped Jeremy. You didn't fulfill your obligations as a good instructor and your group members get angry and end up quitting your course.
