Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You withdraw from the competition.

This is the real-life decision that Jack Polo, an equestrian, would make. "These can be really hard decisions to make," he says. "You want to ride but you are dealing with an animal, not a rock, and you have to consider how it feels."

You risk injuring the horse more seriously if you decide to ride during an injury. "If a horse is lame, you have to figure out the cause of the problem and usually give it some rest," says Polo. "It's not much different than people."

In addition, you would undoubtedly get reprimanded by the dressage judge if she discovered you were riding an injured horse.
