To track your skydiving experience, you use a logbook. In it, you keep a running total of your free-fall time.

On average, a person accelerates for 12 seconds after jumping out of the plane. In this time, they fall 1,500 feet. Then they reach terminal velocity, and fall at a constant rate of about 1,000 feet every 5 seconds.

Below are your last 3 jumps. For each, calculate how many seconds of free fall you had.

  1. The plane was at 5,000 feet above ground level (AGL). You deployed your parachute at 2,500 feet AGL.
  2. The plane was at 6,300 feet AGL. You deployed your parachute at 2,600 feet AGL.
  3. The plane was at 7,200 feet AGL. You deployed your parachute at 2,700 feet AGL.
