Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You replace the flooring

You are not the most popular industrial engineering technician in the hospital's history when you say the hospital's emergency room floors need to be replaced. It's a tough decision, but it's one you feel needs to be made.

Robert Deeks, a Professor in mechanical programs at Mohawk College in Ontario, says that decision making and critical thinking are very important in this line of work. Because you can be responsible for the safety and care of very expensive processing and manufacturing equipment (which can in turn lead to the well-being of people in institutions like a hospital), a lot is at stake.

"The consequences of poor decisions can be huge," he says.
