Marine Mechanic

Real-Life Activities

Real-Life Math

It's another busy day at Barnacle Bob's Marina and Tackle. Today there's a special on boat engine tune-ups. There's a line of customers waiting to have their boats serviced. The marine mechanic (that's you) generally works an 8-hour day. But because of the high demand for service, you are working 10 hours from Monday to Saturday.

This week only, Barnacle Bob's is charging $59 (plus 9 percent tax) for all engine tune-ups.

In addition, with the price of a tune-up, customers will receive 30 percent off any type of motor oil in stock, which sells at regular price for $3.50 (plus 9 percent tax) a container.

Here are the total service sales for that week.

36 tune-ups
41 oil containers

What will be the total amount of sales that week?
