Real-Life Decision Making

Mr. Smith calls you to fix his furnace. He says it has been making strange noises. Also, his heating bills have been getting bigger, so he thinks it's working poorly.

When you show up at his door, he says, "Now, I know your company sells furnaces, but I don't want a new one. Just fix this one. I don't like people trying to sell me things."

You inspect Mr. Smith's furnace. It's 25 years old and needs a lot of repairs. You estimate the furnace needs $450 in repairs, but it's only worth $400.

Mr. Smith doesn't seem to be in the mood to listen. However, he's probably wasting money by having his old furnace repaired.

What do you do?
