Real-Life Decision Making

Educational consultants are responsible for providing information that might have a long-lasting influence on the life of a child and that child's parents and siblings.

When a parent first comes to an educational consultant, the parent often has problems expressing the child's needs or even what behavior the child is showing that is getting the child in trouble.

Choosing a new school requires an educational consultant to slowly eliminate options. Though the final decision of where a child ends up is in the hands of the child and the parents, an educational consultant has to do his best to offer the highest quality options.

But sometimes the parents don't follow a consultant's advice.

You are being paid to give advice. A set of parents comes to you for an informed opinion on where to put their child. You go through the process with them and come up with some options.

However, the parents don't like your suggestions. They had another school in mind that they think would work well. You know from experience that the particular school the parents like would be unsuitable for their child. However, the decision is ultimately up to the parents and the student.

What do you do?
