Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You encourage them to do as you suggest.

In educational consulting, forcing someone to do what you think they should can backfire. It has the potential to alienate a client.

"As the info comes in about the student, the direction of the decision may change or become more narrowed," says Stephen Bozak. He is an educational consultant.

"For example, as the psychometric work comes in, it may rule out some schools and narrow it down to others."

If they simply do as you say and it doesn't work out, you stand the chance of being blamed. The best route is to give them the options and let them make a decision.
