Real-Life Communication

A big part of this profession is being able to communicate through your writing. You may be asked to write a company newsletter, contribute ad ideas, design a company website or write a press release. These are just a few examples!

Steve Miller is a marketing consultant. "The ability to write competently, as well as be able to give verbal presentations, is highly rated," he says.

Now let's practice those writing skills.

You are a marketing coordinator for Fly Rite Kite Co. You have been asked to write a press release for a book about the company's history.

Here are some things you should include in a press release:

  • Book genre
  • One or two sentences to grab the reader's attention
  • Title of the book
  • Author's name
  • One or two sentences about the author
  • Publisher
