The town of West Bridge is planning its biggest celebration ever. It has raised $2,500 for a fireworks display. That's where you come in. Your company has a reputation for thrilling pyrotechnic displays.

Now you need to figure out how much bang for their $2,500 you can give the folks of West Bridge.

  • For setting up the fireworks and cleaning up afterwards, you need 3 helpers for 4 hours. Their hourly wage is $15 each.
  • Covering various expenses such as transportation, insurance and your personal fee will cost $400.
  • Each firework shell costs a different amount based on its size. You have the following sizes on hand:
    • 2-inch shells: $5 each
    • 4-inch shells: $11 each
    • 6-inch shells: $75 each

Using the information above, answer the following questions:

  1. How much money will be available to cover the cost of shells?
  2. If you went with only 2-inch shells, how many would fit within West Bridge's budget?
  3. If you went with only 4-inch shells, how many would fit within West Bridge's budget?
  4. If you decide to go with 12 6-inch shells and 40 4-inch shells, how much money will be left over? How many 2-inch shells will you be able to include?
