Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take the tobacco job

You must decide between two job offers. The first is in public health. The second is in the tobacco industry.

After looking at your budget and weighing your finances, you decide to accept the job with the tobacco company. After a couple years with them, your finances are on the right track. You are able to pay off your loans quickly, and you've started a great nest egg for your future home.

Unfortunately, your level of job satisfaction is low. Although it's great to have money and be free of debt, you want more. You often find yourself in uncomfortable positions with your colleagues.

"We could, for instance, be faced with having to critique the work of colleagues that was done with the goal, wittingly or unwittingly, of supporting, for example, tobacco interests rather than in support of public health," says epidemiologist Colin L. Soskolne.
