Wendy has come to your office for acupuncture treatment because of her lower back pain. She's tried other types of therapies in the past, all to no avail. Her back still hurts!

Her friends have finally persuaded her to come and see you for an acupuncture treatment. Wendy, however, is clearly nervous. She clenches her hands and sits on the edge of her seat.

She doesn't know much about acupuncture and its history, so you talk about traditional Chinese medicine for a while. You also suggest a few lifestyle changes she could make to help reduce pain in her back.

In one paragraph, write down what you would say to comfort Wendy. It might be a good idea to tell her how relaxing she will find the treatment. Maybe telling her that other patients find the treatments painless will also help to calm her nerves.
